Text replaced when I edit it

Question

I'm using a new version of Photoshop on my pc and when I try to edit a paragraph, it's suddenly replaced by one of my titles within the same file. I don't understand why it does it; when I try resetting the character panel or reverting anti-alias to sharp it replaces it with the same word from the title... Any solutions to this?

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
