Question

Text Size

I have found issue lately in Photoshop CC 24.7.0 that I have not experienced previously in other editions of PS.

When I select text (Horizontal) Brush Script MT, and want 12.0 pts, I can select the 12 in the options bar, type the text.  All is fine.   If I close that image and go to another, then type - the size has changed,

Under Character Options - the size is to the same size as the options bar.

What is happening and how can I correct this.   I usually use 12 pts.

Thanks in advance.

I have that very same problem. We produce 20 to 30 pictures a day in different sizes and they vary on 150/300 dpi. Before this update the text size when I create a new text always was set on 12pt and thats what I need in every pic. But now it's always another size and I have to change that EVERY picture I produce.. super annoying.. changing to PX instead PT wasn't the solution.

to be more precise: I create new pictures out of jpgs. We crop them to like 181mm /138mm/150dpi and then I make a new text which I want in 12pt. Always changes default textsize.

You have the same size in both documents but in one document characters are bigger? Or Photoshop is silently changing font size? Later is because change in document resolution (Image > Image Size > Resolution not resolution 2400x1600) as pointed by @Semaphoric

When I crop the images to 9x7 at 300 resolution in the latest version of PS, the font size will not stay at 12

I must be missing something in my limited knowledge of PS but even after trying reset, i have the same issue, I can not retain the 12 font size from one image to the next.

Am I correct in thinking when I crop the image and set the resolution at 300, both images should be the same size?

I will try the same effort in new version between the same scenarios, the 7D image and the R7 image

Thanks for patience.

This attached photo is my finished result with the text in the border

You say you have your type set at 12 pts. Points are a physical unit, meaning 12 point type will appear about one sixth of an inch high when printed at the current resolution, here 300 pixels per inch (PPI). If you change the resolution, the type will change size (relative to the overall image) to be the same when printed.

Look in Edit > Preferences > Units and Rulers; in the Units section, check the setting for type. If it's set to Points ( or a Metric system unit), changing resolution will  affect the type as I described above.

If you set it to use Pixels, the type will stay the same size relative to the image when changing resolution, but it will change when printed, along with the overall image.

What are the resolutions of your docs, in Pixel Per Inch?

images taken with Canon 7D -- 5184x3456 jpg

images taken with Canon R7 -- 6960x4640 jpg

I just tried image from both cameras in PS 22.3.0    Character size set at 12, Brush Script MT - None

Nothing changed in the text size from one image to another.

Both were cropped 9x7 with canvas size to 8x10 that I use for framing.

Example of my efforts, this was taken with R7

Thanks
