"The parameters for command "make" are not currently valid" - Export Artboards to Files problem

Hello all,
I've been trying to use the export command 'artboards to files' for the past few days and have been running up against an error. Whenever I run it, I get the following popup.

Error: General Photoshop error occurred. This functionality may not be available in this version of Photoshop. 

- The parameters for command “Make” are not currently valid.

I've been using this command with no problems at all for months and it just started happening. Any ideas on how to fix? I've reset my preferences, reinstalled multiple versions of Photoshop... but nothing. Any help would be most appreciarted.
