Tool settings show under images

Hi everyone,

I've searched through discussions without finding an answer.

I'm working with Photoshop 2024 on macOS Sequoia and I'm having trouble with tools and tools settings: they always show under the image I'm working on.

i.e.: if I'm using the eraser tool and I need to change settings by right click on the image, the setting pane appears under the image.

So if I click in the image center, I cannot access the tool settings.

Same with toolbar: expanding an item to select a different tool, show the pane under the image.

Long story short: the image is always in foreground and this is quite annoying.

How can I restore the correct behavior?

Thank you in advance, any helps would be appreciated.

Gabrie

Adobe is aware of this. There are two workarounds until it is fixed:

  • Don't float the document when using the application frame. Use tabbed images instead.
  • If you float the document, don't use the application frame.

I'm having the same issue and it's really annoying. I hope they are going to fix this soon. It happens with every tool's window but the worst is the brush one. As I want to change the brush settings just by clicking the right button ofthe mouse I don't see the widndow because is hidden under the image tab. Really annoying

It's been fixed in the Photoshop Beta, so hopefully the next Photoshop release version update will fix it in Photoshop 2024 as well.

Thank you jane-e for your quick response, both workarounds are ok to me.

I'll wait for Adobe fix but meanwhile these are good tricks.

Thank you so much.
