Transform tool not working

After Photoshop updated to the 23.2.1 release, the transform tool isn't working. It worked fine last night when I was working with the previous release. The error message I get when I try to use the free transform tool is:

This happens on any of the layers I select!

There is no »free transform tool« in Photoshop, Transformations are not Tools.

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Paths, Options Bar, …) visible?

Can you post some screenshot to illustrate issue?

Sometimes reseting preferences can solve weird behaviour.

Can you check your Paths panel to see if a Path is selected as the error message indicates?
