Trouble with photoshop files

Having problems going back and forth from desktop to iPad when working on iCloud documents in photoshop.  For instance, I was working on a photo on my desktop so I could use the select color range function to create layers with alternative color options, then saved it as a cloud document.  Half an hour later when I opened photoshop on iPad to do some work the changed document was not there, only the original version was available.  I then tried renaming the document on my desktop and saved it again as a cloud doc, same issue, not available on the iPad.  But both versions show up on my desktop as cloud documents.  This problem seems to be much more prevalent than when I began using it a year ago.

Any suggestions?
