Trouble with typing...

Hi guys! I'm still intermediate on PHotoshop, and something just started happening that I don't know how to turn off...

I open a new file... and when I start to type, for starters, it automatically shows latin text. THat doesn't really bother me, but I would like to know how to stop that.

What my main issue is, is that other text randomly shows up on other parts of the file. If you see my picture below, you'll notice white text towards the bottom... If I hide the text line that says HELLO, all the other white goes away too. But I don't know how to stop this from happening...

Any help would be much apprecaited!

The white marks look like a GPU redraw issue.

Temporarily go to Preferences Performance and uncheck Use Graphics Processor then restart Photoshop.

If that resolves it, turn it back on then go into Advanced and try the three drawing modes Basic, Normal and Advanced (you will need to close and restart Photoshop after each change)

We've solved two of your issues, but this one is still unsolved and no one else has stepped in.

The first thing to try is to reset the Type tool and you have already done that.
The second thing is to go to Preferences > General > Reset Preferences on Quit, then Quit and relaunch
But it looks (to me) like an issue with your graphics card or display, and I hope someone else will step in for this part. What is your Operating system and version and what version of Photoshop are you using?
Also, do those white marks print?

As for the Lorem Ipsum placeholder text, you can turn that off in Preferences > Type > Fill new the layers with placeholder text. It does remain selected, though, so you can just type on top of it.

The other looks like a display issue or an issue with your graphic card. Can you start a new document and reset your type tool and see if it still happens? Right-click the type tool in the options bar (not Tools panel) and choose Reset tool.

Thank you for your fast reply and advice.

I was able to fix the Latin part, so one down! Thank you.

As for the second issue... I created a new file, and right clicked on the type tool like you said,, however it unfortunatly did not fix the problem.

Another thing that changed that used to not happen is if I create one text on the top of my page.. I used to be able to click elsewhere on the page to create a new text box. I'm no longer able to do that either. No matter where I click, it automatically brings me back to the original text I created. The only way I can create a new text box is if I hide the first one, then create a new one, then unhide the original.

Any other suggestions to try?

If your type tool has dotted lines, you are about to create new text. If not, you are about to click in existing test. Hold Shift to force the dotted lines and new text or move away from the existing frame.

I hope another volunteer can help with the other issue. I am leaving my office and will be back tomorrow.
