Troubles with creating GIFS

I've done a GIF on photoshop recently, however since then I am unable to create one.

I have followed all the instructions, however when it gets to the "make frames from layers" section, this option is not an option from the top right hand corner of the timeline tab.

Can someone please let me know what's wrong?

Thanks

As well as what Dave has said, you need to click on Make Frame Animation to create the first frame, before Make frames from layers will became available.  Unfortunately, making animated GIFs is not well documented, and tends not to be an intuitive skill to master.  So please ask if you get stuck, or just want a tip or two.

We usually have some fun with frame animations in our weekly Something For The Weekend threads.  Everyone is welcome to join in, so keep an eye open and have a go.  BTW  Most of the entries are still images — you don't have to use GIFs.

Hi

There are two types of timeline in Photoshop, the Frame animation timeline and the Video timeline. Are you using the right one?

Could you please post a screenshot taken at View > 100% with the pertinent Panels (Timeline, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible?

Thank you all.

Yes I have clicked on "make frame animation" it's the next part I am troubled with.

As you can see below I have "make frame animation" and when clicking the top right hamburger, there is no option to "make frames from layers"

if you also see below, the frame that is highlighted isnt the one showing on the screen. This applies to all the frames. Not sure if I accidentally unchecked something perhaps?

You have selected Frame Animation but you seem not to have clicked the button yet.
