Trying to find patch for CS 8 selection tool problem

I recently had to fix my computer and am reinstalling everything slowly. I reinstalled my CS 8. I know that using a selection tool, such as magic wand, will quickly lead to a pop up window reading: Could not complete request because of program error. Then I have to close Photoshop. I need to find the patch that fixes this. The problem arises because making selections in CS 8 has issues with computers that use multiple CPUs. Does anyone have a link to this patch? Thank you.

Hi

There is no Photoshop CS8, CS6 was that last of the CS versions before they moved to the Creative Cloud
