unable to add shapes with same gradients or pixels

Im trying to add shapes with the same gradient so it would look like is the same shape, I was able to before and I'm sure I selected pixels where it gives you the option to select shape path or pixels and it let me but I remember I had to select other option. appreciate your help and time thanx.

Are you asking how to create a shape with same gradient fill?

If so, Chuck Uebele demonstrates that.

1. Create a Custom Gradient first

2. Select Rectangular Tool: "Shape" Option

Should work, or is there another ??

You can have the gradient align with the layer or with the canvas:

Not sure I understand your question but perhaps it was Layer > New Fill Layer > Gradient

If it's not that can you post a screenshot with all the pertinent panels opened
