Unable to complete crop using PS release 23.5.0

Release 23.5.0

Windows 11

Using the crop tool, I set a cropping area without changing the standard options and when clicking Enter to set the cropped area, the image disappears !!! I can recuperate the image by undoing the crop action.

Cropping has always worked perfectly until using this new 23.5.0 release.

Can anybody help me ?

I found a solution. Resetting PREFERENCES (preferences / general / reset preferences on quit) fixes the problem. I wonder what preference set by release 23.5.0 was causing that.
