Unable to view images in Photoshop 22.11 on macOS Big Sur

Since upgrading to Photoshop 22.11, I have been unable to view a .dng image either by loading directly from Lightroom Classic 10.11 or by opening the file from my computer folder (Running Big Sur 11.1 on an iMac 27" with 24 GB of memory.

The image loads as normal into Camera Raw and the "Background Layer" is shown in the Layers Panel once Camera Raw has been closed. However, there is no sign of the image in PS and I am left with a black screen. If I enlarge the blank screen, only part of the image can be seen and, if the image is then scrolled, the next part is displayed and so on (as can be seen in the attached screen dump).

In short, under these circumstances, Photoshop is completely unuseable.

Any thoughts as to what the problem might be?

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop. Please try disabling the option to Use Graphics Processor from Photoshop by going to Preferences, then Performance. Once done, quit & relaunch Photoshop to check if that helps.

You can also try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here: https://adobe.ly/2Qzc0K3

Please backup your settings prior to resetting the preferences. You can check: https://adobe.ly/2vNz6FG

Let us know how it goes!

Many thanks for your speedy response and for the links to some very helpful articles.

Neither disbling the graphics card nor altering the Preferences changed the behaviour of PS 22.11. I then decided to uninstall the app and reinstall. This resolved the problem.

Thank goodness your response gave me details of how to back up the various settings before removal otherwise I would have lost quite a few Actions and brushes etc.

Thank you once again.

Kind regards.

Stephen
