Understanding and converting Pantone

The Pantone library includes many sets some of which I'd like to begin to work with; including newer Pantone Libraries.  How can I work with Pantone, then convert to HDR \  CYMK \ RGB 8/16 without any color loss when working with strictly Pantone in Photoshop or Illustrator on occasion ? I know that Pantone is spot colors so maybe I'm missing a piece of the puzzle ?

    Correct answer postrophe

Is there not a 1:1 comparison of Pantone <> CYMK then from CYMK I hopefully can convert to RGB 8 /16 or HDR ?

When you select a Pantone spot colour you only get a representation of the color on your monitor and when/if you convert it to CMYK that space just gives the best version it can. So, for example, bright orange in RGB will become a kind or brown color in CMYK.

Is it possible to get an accurate representation on a monitor of Pantone ?

It depends whether your monitor has been accurately calibrated and which Pantone color. Many are outside the monitor's color gamut, for example silver, gold and fluorescent pigments.
