Uninstall PS6 after installing Photoshop CC?

An Adobe consultant told me to leave PS6 on my computer so that when I installed the Photoshop CC version they would basically merge. Now that I have the CC version on my computer (Windows 10 - 64bit), should I uninstall the Photoshop PS6? (Just playing it safe here before doing anything!)

Thank you,

Julius Titak

I'd recommend to not uninstall CS6 after CC is installed. If you're certain you don't want CS6 (no, they will not "merge") - uninstall it first, before installing CC.

Photoshop should always be installed and uninstalled in strict version order. Last in, first out.

The latest install/uninstall activity will usually take over file associations - telling the Windows registry that this is the default Photoshop version. This gets to be a problem when that uninstall leaves these registry entries orphaned. Sometimes you can just reassign the latest version, but sometimes that's not possible, and you need a full uninstall/reinstall anyway.

Keeping them in version order avoids all these problems.

D Fosse,

Sounds logical to me! I think I'll hold off for now.

Thank you,

Julius

It's up do you to decide, having both versions won't cause any damage on your laptop.

Hi

You can uninstall it if you wish to - or you can leave it in place. Sometimes it is handy to have an older version to check back with if something does not appear to work in the newer version (it saves having to think "I am almost sure it worked like this...…")
