Unknown GPU issue still exists in PS 22.5
Win10, 64b, 16Gb Ram, AMD Radeon R5 200 series GPU
The issue is existing over many PS Versions now.

I trusted that updates would come with a fix, but they didn't so far. I read others were helped with newer versions. Therefor I resetted my PS settings, cleaned all Graphics Card Drivers an reinstalld the latest. Without success. I think I did everything I could do.
I quite often need to use Adaptive Wide Angle in my workflow, and I would greatly appreciate if it would not depend on the GPU. Alternatively, Adobe could offer the module as a plugin, as a workaround for users with the smae problem. Third party developerd have stopped developing such plugins, since PS has all it needs for panorama correction. Panorama corrector with the option to draw 4 bezier curves, was a wonderfull alternative.

Thank you for consideration. I hope there will be a solution (bug fix, independent Adaptive wide angle, or alternative plugin) soon.

The bottom line is that your GPU does not meet the mimimum system requirements for the current version of Photoshop. It has neither the VRAM requirement of 2G VRAM (with 4GB recommended) or the functionality to run Direct X 12 which is needed.

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements.html

As Adobe update the GPU functions to use Direct X (and Metal for Apple) then those system requirements are going to be even more important going forward.

You could try forcing your GPU, but that would be at your own risk and is not supported (you could get crashes).

If you are using 22.4 / 22.5 and your driver is up to date, then to force Photoshop to use your older GPU create a file PSUserConfig.txt containing the lines:
# Force GPU On
GPUForce 1
Save that text file to :
Windows: [InstallationDrive]:\Users \ [UserName]\ AppData\ Roaming\ Adobe\ [Photoshop_version]\[Photoshop_version]Settings\
macOS: //Users/[UserName]/Library/Preferences/[Photoshop_version]Settings/
Note as stated above, this is not officially supported by Adobe, so may cause other issues – so you do it at your own risk.
