Unlock a PDF file?

Hello everyone !

I am trying to modify a PDF file using photoshop and I'm failing completely.

I scanned b&w drawings (automatically transformed into PDF files), when I try to edit them with photoshop, the background layer cannot be unlocked, I cannot create a layer I can only draw on it in black/grey/whites.

I tried:

exporting it in different formats (PNG, JPG),

converting using online converters,

changed the colour profile to RGB

nothing is working 😕😕  any help would be much appreciated !! Thank you

Not entirely clear what the issue is, but you can change a Background Layer into a Normal Layer by double clicking on that layer.

    Try this

From your description, I suspect you may be in indexed colour mode.

Go to Image - Mode - change it to RGB

Then to unlock the layer right click on the layer in the layers panel and choose "Layer from Background"

If that does not work post a screen shot showing the tab at the top of the opened image
