Unsuccessful exports in CS6 displaying thumbnail image

Out of the "blue" all exports from CS6 on Mac 10.8 no matter the extension only show that image number or new name, and are missing the thumbnail image.

All data is correct with an full sized image if previewed one at a time or sent to email or USB drive or imported to i-Photo showing a full sized file.

DID I hit a wrong button lately ? Is there a category where something needs adjusting or turned on/off ?

Exports since installation years ago always showed a thumbnail in folders or on the monitor.

Any ideas to get back to my previous exports with a thumbnail image ?

Thanks for the help

Richard

The simplest ideas should go first. Yes, reboot your Mac and let me know how it went. We can always try other things.

The photographs no matter what the extensions go to the desktop or desktop folders when "Saved as" in PS6 as what ever name or number they were assigned . For the past few years,(and still working in CS4 which I just tested) a small image picture"thumbnail" was above the name or file number and was helpful when searching for one in a desktop folder or the desktop monitor (I-Mac op system 10.8.2)

Lately just the file number or name appears on the desktop with with no image...simply a clear background color of the monitor.

I have yet to see blue Ps, only clear thumbnails

If one or many of the blank thumbnail image file names (it does not matter the extension) is clicked to open full size in preview, the photo now displays perfectly as saved in PS6. Import to I-Photo is successful & displays the image, while export back as the same name then shows a thumbnail...really strange ! All non thumbnail files saved as images from PS6 will display also in emails when attached and on USB drives.

Would such things as re-booting the computer be helpful ? Re-install of the PS6 program ?

Hooray...why didn't I just reboot 1st before all of the wondering & emails.. It solved the ghost image from export of CS6(saved as). I have no clue why bugs are like that...but always try re-booting I suppose. Thanks everyone for helping. If computer solving issues and software issues could always be solved by re-boots :)....NOT

Hi Richard. This is the non-technical lounge forum. Let us know what application you are using to generate the thumbnails, and we'll move your question to the correct forum and get you an answer.

I have used CS6(and before that CS4) and when "saved as" from the file menu at the top option is clicked for new name and a file extension chosen ( .jpg, .tiff, .psd  etc  ) is saved in a designated location such as the folder it was imported from or simply the desktop.

Those exported PS6 files previously displayed a small thumbnail of the photo file in the folder if opened or on the desktop with

the new name /image # and extension saved as.

II have not tried keyboard commands for "save as", I never learned them if they exist.

Recently, only the file name or image # appears on the desktop under a blank image in the folder or desktop with no thumbnail to quickly view unless preview is used on each image name or number.

When attached to an email or USB drive, the thumbnail photo re-appears again.

( the entire photo also displays if imported into i-photo)

I have added some updates from Topaz which work well as plugins in the PS6 effects columns, but feel that should have no effect on the final file still in PS6 before clicking "save as" .

I am not technically "gifted"at age 74, but can follow suggesstions

I hope this was the information you requested.

Hi Richard—I was looking for what program you are using. Based on the response, I'm going with Photoshop, and will move the question to the Photoshop forum. Thanks!
