Update extension

Hi guys,

I have created an extension which is currently in private mode for testing purposes.

I plan to continue and add more features to my extension, many of them will require me to update my extension's scripts.

I tried to upload a patch in adobeexchange.com (without removing the already installed extension) and I don't see that my plugin is being updated.

I also tried to manually update my extension by downloading from a remote server binary data and writing it to a local file but I got a signature error.

I would like to know how can I push an update to all the future users which will use my extension?

I do not know if there is an Adobe AutoUpdater if there is one I do not use it. If there is one I do not know if it would update third party extensions, plug-ins and actions. Adobe's installer does not migrate third party plug-ins.

I also do not start Adobe  Creative Cloud Desktop application automatically.  When I do start it it seems to check for updates and tells me when the are updates available. Sill I need to install any update  I want to try.  The Adobe  Creative Cloud Desktop application may check to see it there are updates for  Add-ons the you installed using browse Add-ons which are installed via the Adobe  Creative Cloud Desktop application.  You may be inform you that there are updates for such add-ons.  I just do not know the answer. My guess would be maybe.. .

After a patch is uploaded (and approved by Adobe) the new version will be installed automatically through the Creative Cloud App. You (the user of the add-on) will get a notification. Synchronization has to be turned on.

That would be one option I would never turn on.  Adobe release too many bugs.  I want to control when and which updated I install. Notification of availability is all I would use.  I would imagin that any company that use Photoshop in production would not have that enabled.  They will have someone testing updated before putting them into their production.

I think you updates need to go through some Adobe approval process. Your updates will not be available till that process is complete and Adobe accepts your update.  You not in control Adobe is.  That is why I distribute my Actions and scripts and don't create extensions.  For extensions are  installed buy the Adobe Creative cloud desktop manager and must be made available through the Adobe approval process.

There are third party extension installers you can use and you can install extension manually.

Thanks JJMack for the quick reply.

I think of my users and their convenience.

I would like them to be able to update the extension without any effort.

If it requires me to buy a license or a certificate from Adobe, I will do it.

Basically I wouldn't like them to remove and re-install the extension on every update.

Is there an official way to make "Auto update" for an extension?

P.s

It a CEP HTML Panel, Can you recommend an independent installer that can update an existing installation of a zxp package?

2nd PS:

I have the Adobe Creative cloud desktop manager and I still can't auto update my own extension.

I wonder how can i "Push" an update to all the users (which is currently only me).
