Using CS2 on a new computer- help!

Hello,

Our (very old) computer died, and I am trying to use our CS2 program on a new device. I've noticed that several editing options in Camera Raw are missing, primarily any ability to do lense corrections. I've already had to download the Digital Negative Converter, which seems to be working. Does anyone know what to do about this, short of getting a more recent version of Photoshop (which my boss will not be happy about).

Help please!

ACR was a optional pluf-in you could pay for and install in Photoshop version 7.  Then ACR became a standard Photoshop plug-in is Photoshop CS.  However, each new version received a newer version of ACR and the newer versions were coded so the would only operated in the version of Phtoshop they were released for.  I do not remember ACR version 1 had lens correction I never paid for it.  For CS2 ACR version 3.7 would be the version you should have updated to..  The oldest version of Photoshop I have installed is CS3 its version of ACR version 4.6.  Version 4.6 has a lens correction  but it is not like the lens correction is newer versions of ACR like the current ACR version 11.4.1 that has camera and lens profiles support. Here  is what I seen in ACR 4.6 and ACR 11.4.1. Make sure you have updated  ACR 3.0 the shipped with CS2 to ACR 3.7. I do not remember ACR 3.7 UI. The reason I updated to the different perpetuals version of Photoshop was toe get the latest version of ACR.  If you have a newer computer you should run a 64bit Photoshop and use your machines resources. CS2 can not do that.

Thanks for the info. We use Photoshop and Bridge on a limited basis, and no longer having this basic capability now that we have a new computer is throwing me for a loop. I guess we'll have to bite the bullet and upgrade.

Photoshop cs2 does have Lens Correction under Filter>Distort>Lens Correction, though it's not automated as in later versions.

 

There is also PTLens, which i believe is just about the only third party Lens Correction plugin that still works with photoshop cs2 on the windows side.

CS2 is very old and no longer supported on any current operating system. Your boss should understand about the useful life of assets and depreciation/amortization. Adobe has a Photography plan for $10 a month and you stay current with the software.

    I understand, it is simply difficult to accept spending more money since we use the program relatively rarely (though it is essential) and we just had to spend the money for a new computer. We're a small not-for-profit organization, so every penny counts.
