Using Generative Fill on distractions behind subject -- best way to select?

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of guidance. Occasionally, like in the scenario with attached image, I want to remove Generative Fill to remove background options that run behind my subject. I have covered subject's face for privacy in this case, but you can see how the crowd behind him runs behind his face. To solve this, I would carefully use the selection tool to trace around the subjects' faces to encircle the people in the background I wish to use generative fill on to remove.

Is there a solution using Select Subject to get this done quicker?  Such as, I quickly circle the people in the background then "subtract subject"? That would be ideal, similar to Lightoom.

Curious to hear your thoughts, thanks!
