Using “Save as a copy”

I understand the use of selecting "save as a copy." I select that option and rename the file. Then I select jpeg and save. It now changes the title of the file to .jpeg.tif. Why?

Could you please post screenshots of the dialog and the resulting file?

Ok. First I select save a copy. When the dialog box opens, I change the name to prayer plant. Then I go to the bottom and select jpeg and it immediately changes the name to prayer plant.jpeg.tif. Pictures attached.

Was the original file a tiff? Did you try to just remove the .tiff and continue to save?
