Using Shared VRAM insted Dedicated VRAM

Photoshop uses as much shared memory as dedicated memory, while there is still a lot of free dedicated graphics memory.

This is not normal, and not what I see here. This is sometimes seen with dual GPUs, but very rarely with just a single dedicated GPU - one notable exception being the new AI-powered Lens Blur in Lightroom/ACR.

 

The normal behavior is to use VRAM up to close to the limit, and then the VRAM will be dynamically reallocated as you work. In other words, as other applications and processes need VRAM, they get it, without needing to exceed VRAM and go into system RAM. In still other words, VRAM is cached.

 

Most likely, this is a buggy AMD driver. Update it.
