Using shift to unlock aspect while transforming in Adobe photoshop CC 2019

what do you think of Using the shift to unlock aspect while transforming in Adobe photoshop CC 2019 instead of using shift in keeping aspects while transforming in older versions of Adobe photoshop ? I think that keeping the old option is better and how can we return it in the preferences ?

I love this new behavior but wish it was more consistent.

I wish I could remember the other feature that caused me an issue.  I can remember Perspective Crop — give it a try, and you'll see how awkward it feels now — but I am sure there was something else.  One of those seldom visited tools or functions.  Perspective Crop is a good case in point though, because its very function means you will almost certainly need to move the corner handles free of any constrictions, which means you are obliged to add a key press (Shift) just to use it right off the bat.

Hi

What do I think?

I don't mind the change itself, muscle memory does adapt quickly,  but I dislike the inconsistent way it has been implemented. So for pixel layers you don't need shift to constrain the aspect ratio but for vector shapes you do need shift to constrain. Even that difference does not hold when you get inside some tools e.g crop.

I dislike more the click to auto-commit the transform. If that had been implemented so that the transform is commited when you click on another tool or layer then it would would work much better.

So whilst I do support the request for a preference setting for old and new behaviour, my real request would be for a consistent implementation of the change throughout the application.

I should add that whilst we can have an interesting dscussion here,  to get the development team to see it you would be better adding comments to the discussion at the link below, which is the site for bug reports and feature requests:

Yes, it is beyond confusing. I am kind  of getting used to it with Free Transform. We sorted out some  of the new icons that help show you  what to expect  in this thread

Re: Distort tool does not working   But other functions that use a bounding box, like Perspective Crop, are catching me out

You can choose to revert to the old method by using  PSUserConfig.text.  You might already be using this file if you have enabled the WinTab API for a Wacom tablet.  If  so, just add the  TransformProportionalScale 0  line, and save to the same location.

To revert to the legacy transform behavior, do the following:
Use Notepad (Windows) or a text editor on Mac OS to create a plain text file (.txt).
Type the text below in the text file:

TransformProportionalScale 0

Save the file as "PSUserConfig.txt" to your Photoshop settings folder:
Windows: [Installation Drive]:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2019\Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Settings\
macOS: //Users/[User Name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Settings/

Good luck
