Question

Vanishing point filter - "Render grids to Photoshop" not working

Version: Photoshop 24.0.0

Platform/OS: macOS Ventura (13.0)

Steps:

  1. Open Photoshop
  2. Create New Document
  3. Create new layer
  4. Filter > Vanishing Point...
  5. Create Plane Tool (C) [Second tool on the top left]
  6. Draw a plane with two or more points outside the document borders
  7. Click the menu next to the Edit Pane Tool (small icon with arrow pointing down and four lines)
  8. Select Render Grids to Photoshop
  9. Click OK (Top right)

Expected result:

  1. Window closes
  2. Layer created in step 3 above should show the plane drawn in step 6 above

Actual result:

  1. Window closes
  2. Layer created in step 3 does not show anything. The plane drawin in step 6 is not rendered.

Idea:

If the entire plane is drawn within the document borders, it will be rendered. However, some creative processes require the user to place some points of the plane outside the document borders.

This is obviously a bug, as tens of people have searched for a result, but not a lot of people were able to find a solution.

Why is it valuable to me:

It prevents me from doing what I want to do.

Hi @Osman K23096250 have you tried resetting your Photoshop Preferences found under General?

If you have and the results are the same - can you supply a screen shot of your Vanishing Point window with the grid drawn before you choose "Render Grids to Photoshop"?

I am on the current Mac 2023 build and can run without issue.
