Variable Data Sets Save In Smart Object Or Place Linked Layer

Hi all, thanks for taking the time to read this. 

I really liked the Photoshop Data Driven Graphics in photoshop to retrieve image data from excel and save in the psd file,

but unfortunately image layer get rasterized, if the layer is smart object or placed linked definitely very useful for edited.

how to achieve this similiar result like variable data set that retrieve image data from excel but using script or action. Any ideas?
