What can cause a Photoshop file to be greyed out?

Hello,

Can somebody tell me what can cause a Photoshop file to be greyed out when the file is not in use and it has 777 permissions?

People that see it greyed out can't open the file and how can I fix this?

Thanks.

Are you opening the file via Photoshop, your file browser, LightRoom?

Can you send us a screen shot?

777 is server permissions code for "everyone can read, write and execute" with this file.

Why do you need this?  What exactly are you doing?

Hi Jorge,

Grayed out in the Finder? In Adobe Bridge? When you choose File > Open from Photoshop? Is it on the server or your hard drive or a flash drive? Is it only one file or multiple files? What is the size of the file?

A screen shot might help.

Hi Jane, they are greyed out in Finder or anywhere you look for them. They turn into .txt or .exec for no reason. Sometimes even the extension is changed making it impossible for them to be opened or re-imported to After Effects.

I have a huge work project that I'm basically gonna have to do all over again because of this.

Any clue how to solve it?

Hi

Can you provide more detailed info, what OS and version of Photoshop do you have and what exactly do you mean by greyed out, is the file stored on a server
