What causes this? (RGB/8/CMYK) to come up in some images only?

Hello,

In the title bar of an image, it tells you its color mode and bit mode. Sometimes, the monitor profile shows up as well, in this case CMYK, which is always checked in my machine.

But, if that is the case, what causes some RGB images to show that entire line and what causes it to sometimes just read (RGB/8)?

thanks

    Hello, Babs!

You activated the proof colors switch (CMD+Y) for the images with two color modes in their tab.

Do it again to disable it, or you can go to the menu View>Proof Color to uncheck.

Been using Photoshop for decades and have never encountered this, even accidentally. Thanks!

This function lets you see how the image would look for instance in CYMK, while working in RGB, with all filters available.

It is also useful to check the values when painting, if you setup a greyscale preview.
