What happened to Photoshop?

I installed the 2020 version coming from PS 2018. How dissapointing is to work on the 2020. Ofcourse when possible to work at all.

The 2020 is constantly freezing. Every 5 or 6 minutes of work i have to restart my Photoshop because i can not zoom in and out the image, the Navigator freezes, can not move the canvas in the work space whan in full screen mode...every 5-6 minutes. It is frustrating.

I like the new organization of the swatches except that i am missing the otiginal set of basic swatches...maybe still need to find them but organizing in folders is not a bad idea at all.

How can i move back to PS 2018?

Regards,

Deyan

Hello, are you running any other programs alongside photoshop, including lightroom?

Is your GPU acceleration on in Edit>Preferences>Performance? (and restart)

Did you try to check legacy compositing in Edit>Preferences>Performance? (and restart)

I have the same issues. It's terrible that Adobe is using paid users as beta users!

You should not uninstall your current Photoshop when you install a new version use the installer options not to uninstall older versions. The are always new bugs in new versions of Photoshop. Some may effect your work. You can download CC 2018 from pro design web site.cc 2018 direct download

Hi JJMack,

Thank you for replying and the link.

Yes you are right and i usually wait to try the new fersion first before uninstall the old one. This time though since i trust

Adobe decided to just go straight with the new version.

I managed to download and install the 2018 verison and go back on track.

Some of the new feutures i saw in the 2020 verion look quite good and would like to use in my workflow. Hope the bugs will be corrected in future updates so i can use it.

Thank you again!

"How can i move back to PS 2018?"

Hi,

Adobe allows us to install the current version and one version back, so you should be able to install 2019 from the Creative Cloud app. In addition, the default when installing is to leave the old version, so if you installed using the defaults, 2018 may still be on your system. Check your Applications folder.

Hello Jane,

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunatelly when installing the 2020 version i uninstall the 2018 to keep as much freespace on my system drive as possible. I usually wait to do so after trying the new version first but since i trust Adobe i was not expecting any issues.

Thank you for the tip. Will be more carefull in future.

Deyan

I thought it is only my issue. Photoshop is the worst with coonstant bugs, but not just Photoshop - in Lightroom when I go editing the original in Photoshop it resets all Lightroom edits after saving PS edit.
Damn.
How to go to an earlier/normal version?

Cheers,
Oleg

Hi Oleg,

Lightroom as well? I am glad i did not updated it yet then.

I really do not understand how is this possible. I was really happy with Photoshop so far and now is just frustration working with it.

Want my PS 2018 back!
