What is the difference between v 24.7 and v 25?

I recently updated to version 24.7, but it says that there is an update to version 25.  What is the difference?  Why choose one instead of the other?

Thanks.

Version 25 is a brilliant upgrade, if you have the correct system specs – it includes the  really useful Generative Fill and Generative Expand. I've had no problems at all running it on my iMac and my MacBook Pro.

Adobe updated “What’s New in Photoshop” with the changes in version 25 (Photoshop 2024), which are listed on this web page:

What’s New in Photoshop

Basically, version 25 is most of the things that have been in testing in the Photoshop public beta, but now debugged and made ready for production use in the normal release. Particularly the Generative Fill feature that has gotten so much attention; which is now ready for commercial use.

Because the Photoshop version number advanced one integer (and year), version 25 is also the annual major upgrade normally released around the time of the Adobe MAX conference every fall. Apparently released a little early this year.

As usual every fall, a reason to stay on the earlier major version (24.7 instead of 25) is if there is something about the upgrade that is not working properly for your work. Then you stick with the old one while you wait for the fix to the new one.

Hi Conrad C -

Thanks.  I may wait a bit.  I have a friend who has installed v 25, and it froze his computer for a while.
