What is the difference between Win or mac PS?

We have a discussion about Photoshop Mac vs. Windows, I claim that it is the same program, but that any file will know if it is installed on a mac eg. While others say that there are completely different programs.

A Windows app can only work on Windows. A Mac app can only work on Mac.

But, Adobe went to a lot of trouble to make two apps, one for Mac and one for Windows, which look almost exactly the same, so it's easy to switch between them.  If you have a current subscription you too can switch freely.

You win the bet.  Not only do files know when they have been opened on a Mac, but it is not unknown for them to shrivel up and die of shame.  Other, more tricky files, will look left and right to see if anyone has noticed their presence, and if they think they are in the clear, withdraw quietly, and look for a nice PC to visit.

Presumably those who say they are completely different programs haven't used them!

They might be referring to the two program versions’ differences in code, deployment/installation and API usage.

    Hi mikaels,

Yes, you are right. Photoshop is exactly the same program on both platforms. The only difference is the way you use Photoshop.

Display is better on Mac OS because of the screen/hardware quality

You can say that the keyboard shortcuts changes because in Windows you have CTRL key and Mac you have Command Key.

    Huh...?

Screen quality on Mac? iMac displays are mediocre at best, and certainly no match to a good desktop monitor (which of course is platform-independent). MBP displays don't even count.

Different program installers, but image files don't care which platform they're on.
