What is this flickering thing and how do I get rid of it?

It appears when I'm zoomed in only, and flickers while drawing or panning. It's driving me nuts!

Thanks

I would really love an edit button instead of posting all this spam. My apologies for the multiple posts.

So I tried disabling the graphics processor then restarted photoshop. I still had the same problem.

Next, I tried disabling any optional plugins by shift-clicking to open. Didn't work either 😞

Then I tried disabling both at the same time, which didn't work.

Finally, I re-installed the previous version 2.5, and that solved the problem.

Update your system's graphics driver, configure it properly and check the hardware acceleration settings in PS. Clearly you have an issue with brush preview overlays because your GPU can't handle it in its current configuration.

Thanks for the response!

I had already updated everything and rebooted and checked and googled and went up the hills and back down.

My computer is old (about 4 years old), but it's supposed to be a gaming/graphics powerhouse.

I have two graphic cards, one for the heavy lifting (Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070), which is the one photoshop is set to use. Not sure what the brush preview overlay is though, you mean the brush panel when rightclicking?

Not very small edit: It appears when zoomed in beyond 50% AND when working around the edges of the canvas

How can I edit my posts instead of spamming?
