When can we save normally again?

I'm sticking with 22.3.1 for the time being until I am actually able to save files normally instead of as a copy, and psd only, when it's just a quick resize, then jump through 20 hoops just to save it as a jpg or png. I find it very daunting after all these years to have it changed in the first place. Not being able to choose from a list of formats right on ctrl s, or File > Save as > PNG.

In case you're wondering why it was done in the first place, the idea was that any file format that didn't support all the current properties of the file, was moved to "copy". In other words, any format that required discarding data.

A change in MacOS would append "-copy" to such a file in any case, and so Adobe changed it across the board. That didn't go down well with the Windows users (understatement of the year...), so they changed it back.

This is actually how save as used to be. But Apple messed thing up. If you're on Windows, you can set the preferences to the Legacy save as mode.

Oh! I didn't know that was possible! I am on Windows. On my mid 2009 MBP, I can't update past 2018 anyways.

Thanks! I'll re-download the latest version and search for legacy save.
