Question

When saving file is stays at 98% for about 5 minutes

When saving my file, sometimes they are big and sometimes not, it stops at 98% for the longest time.  I've tried saving in tiff and psd and both have the same problem.  I've also tried to change to Legacy Composting in preferences and still the same problem.  Any suggestions?  This is a new computer and I have plenty of RAM 128 GB.

How big is the file and how much HD/Scratch disk space do you have?

Hi there,

Sorry that Photoshop is freezing while you save a file on your Mac running OS Catalina.

Please checkout the steps below:

1) Try going to the System Preferences of the macOS, then to Security and Privacy and add Photoshop to the Accessibility under the Privacy tab. Also, grant permissions to Photoshop 2020 under the Files and Folders section.

2) Turn on the Legacy Compositing option in Performance preferences. Choose Edit > Preferences > Performance (Windows) or Photoshop > Preferences > Performance (macOS). Select Legacy Compositing. Quit and relaunch Photoshop

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Akash

This is a known Catalina issue and Legacy Compositing has nothing to do with it.

I'm running Mac Catalina 10.15.2 and my files are stored on my computer's hard drive.  This computer is brand new and is only used for photo editing.  The hard drive is empty.
