Question

When selecting a tool, photoshop switches to my cursor and I can't click anything

Hello,

I recently bought Photoshop and started to draw on my Cintiq 16.

The problem I got which is also very frustrating while drawing is: sometime when I use the Zoom In/Out Tool on my pen, my brush just randomly becomes my normal windows mouse cursor.

I can click on everything in photoshop but just not on my canvas.

I can select tools, but I can't use them I just have my windows cursor at all times.

Like I said, I can select everything in photoshop, but when I select a tool, it does not actually change to that tool, I always am stuck with my windows cursor and I have to restart potoshop to get it fixed. Only to draw for like 5 minutes and the same happening again.

I don't have this issue in Clip Studios for example. It's extremely frustrating and I really wanna use photoshop, but if I can't get this fixxed I have to switch to CS.

I hope somebody can help me.

kind regards.

Hi @Daniel2775389781pd sorry to hear this.

Curious if you have tried changing the springboard keyboard shortcuts time? By default it is set to 200ms which is what it has been for years so if that doesn't work for your workflow, increase the timing or uncheck that option so that spring-loaded keyboard shortcuts are disabled if that fits your workflow.

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thank you,

Cory
