Question

white/grey around black brush stroke

Hi

I am creating a CMYK file and the client wants me to use 0 0 0 100 black. There is a white/grey line around the brushstroke when I use this black, this appears even if I use the eraser on the stroke. You can see the problem in the photo. I assume that it has something to do with anti aliasing because it does not appear when I use the pencil but the pencil is too pixelated for what I want to do.

Why have I only seen this happen for this colour?

Is there a way to remove the colour around the brush stroke?

If there is no solution will this be a massive problem when it goes to print?

Thanks

Are you viewing this at 100% Zoom (or greater)?

If you save off a TIFF and view in say Apple's Preview, do you still see this white?

I think the issue boils down to subtractive color as opposed to additive color …

When one decides to work in CMYK one should consider trapping and overprinting oneself.

What the screenshot shows seems unsurprising to me – if a 0/0/0100 pixel has 50% opacity and is situated above a 100/100/0/0 (or other color values) pixel the result is naturally 50/50/0/50 (or corresponding).

Thanks for the advice! Trapping seems to have sorted it out
