Question

Why are my paintbrush strokes opaque?

Hi,

I want to use the paintbrush tool, but it looks translucent and I can see my other strokes despite the opacity being 100%. Usually, my other apps start out giving solid strokes.

An aside: The thread’s title seems to contain a typo, you probably meant »Why aren’t my paintbrush strokes opaque?«

I don't want my strokes to be opaque. I want to know why they are when my opacity is 100%.

It seems you misunderstand what »opaque« means – »not able to be seen through«.

And please answer the questions I posted.

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, Brush Settings, …) visible?

You seem to have checked »… Pressure for Opacity« in the Options Bar – is that deliberate?

Check the brush settings palette. This tends to happen when you have pressure sensitivity and other options like fading enabled.
