Why can't I see a preview of the color change in a masked area?

Why can't I see a preview of the color changing in a masked area?  

I can see the color changing in a masked area if I go to Image/Adjustments/Hue and Saturation.

But I can't see it changing if I have a selected area and want to change the color of the selected area by going to: Edit/Fill/Color...

Is this the way it is supposed to work or am I missing something?

Edit Fill does not have a live preview option.

Instead you can use a Solid Color Adjustment layer to preview live.

You can then either duplicate the mask onto that adjustment layer or use a clipping mask to clip it to the existing mask on your original layer.

I figured it out.  Under preferences/general you'll see a choice for a color picker.  I switched it to Adobe, not windows and it worked like normal.  Thank you.
