Question

• Why is Photoshop trying open .DNG files as TIFF files (And telling me that he can't!)

Hello -

I try to open some raw .DNG files from my external SSD with last version of Photoshop (MAC vers. 23.1.0 / OS Monterey).

They were made with Adobe DNG Converter.

Why is Photoshop telling me the following error message "Could not open "B_12XXX.dng" because the file is not a TIFF file" (see attachment).

He is speaking about TIFF files!!!

I can't upload the .DNG file because of the size limit on the forum (the file is bigger than 47MB).

Thank you for any feedback.

It appears the DNG file is corrupt if I try to determine its file type: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/determine-the-file-type-of-a-document.html

DNG is an extension of the TIFF 6.0 format. A good DNG looks like this:

Data corruption usually occurs at the hardware level, either a card reader, drive, connection/cable or network connection. That's where I'd start.

Use CC Files or Dropbox and share a link to the affected DNG.
