Why is the photoshop 22.3.1 crashing on M1 Macbook?

I have a Macbook pro with the M1 chip, and despite multiple attempts to get the work done on photoshop none of the effects seem to be loading. It is constantly not responding and takes forever to get tasks completed. This is when Photoshop is the only running application. Please help me fix this issue.

P.S I have uninstalled and installed the software multiple times.

From Adobe:

Adobe is aware of an issue where Photoshop 22.3.1 is not properly detecting the GPU, and have a fix that will be available soon; thank you for your patience.

An earlier version of Photoshop may be installed and used for the time being.

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop on your M1 Macbook. Would you mind telling us the macOS version you're using on the Macbook? Please ensure you have all available macOS updates installed on the machine.

Please check if Photoshop has the necessary permissions by following the steps below:

1. Go to the System Preferences for your Mac, then Security and Privacy, then select the Privacy tab.

2. Then select Accessibility from the list to the left & check if Photoshop is added to the list with a check mark in front of it.

3. If Photoshop is not a part of the list, please add it by unlocking the window first using the lock at the bottom left, then clicking the + icon & navigating to the Applications folder.

4. Also, grant permissions to Photoshop under Full disk access located in the same list as Accessibility.

5. Once done, restart the Mac & check if it helps.

If the issue persists, you can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop manually using the steps mentioned here: https://adobe.ly/2Qzc0K3

Please backup your settings prior to resetting the preferences. You can check: https://adobe.ly/2vNz6FG

Let us know how it goes!

Regards,

Nikunj

This is a confirmed issue with the latest Photoshop build acknowledged by the Adobe team on the Photoshop Family forum. Recommended action is to install a previous build.

"This is a known issue..." Why is it we keep seeing this phrase shortly after a new version is released, especially a new base number i.e. 22 then 23? Please Adobe understand that the majority of your clients are working, at least trying to, professionals for whom software "known issues" are unacceptable. I do accept to test every potential scenario is not feasible but seriously you need to do better.

As a long time, 20 plus years, user of Adobe products I have experienced more issues with PrPro/AE/ME/PS in the last two years than I can recall. Yes "known issues" get, mostly, resolved fairly quickly. The problem though is we "users" are losing time and money and gaining damage to our reputations, there are only so many times one can tell a client "I'm sorry but your job is delayed due to 'known issues' with the software.

When you tell us to uninstall/go back to an earlier version that seems to say "Yeah, we knew there were going to be problems but released this version anyway." I did not sign up to Beta test your software, please stop releasing new versions with "known issues". Indeed stop releasing new versions unless there is a major change/need to fix a "known issue".  I notice in the "Community guidelines" you ask for posters to be kind and respectful, I ask the same of you, Adobe, be kind and respectful of your customers and stop releasing flawed software.

While I have been penning this message I had opened PS -it crashed/stalled several times yesterday when trying to save an image- today it popped up with a filenameRecovered copy of the file and asked if I wanted to save it an affirmative reply was met with yet another stall/crash.

Version is 23.1 running -well not really- on a Win 10 Pro PC,

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz 4.00 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
NVIDIA GTX1070 with 8GB RAM

Yes it's not perfect or hyper powerful but until the last update from Adobe for PS it was working.

To go back, use Creative Cloud application, next to the product you want to revert, click on... pick "other versions"
