Question

Windows 10 Gestures Not Working

I know this is a common topic on here (which should say something in itself), but I'm really at a loss for words for how borderline unusable the trackpad gestures are for Photoshop in Windows 10. I'm coming over from a MacBook Pro to a new Dell XPS 15 which has a great trackpad with Windows Precision drivers, but even basic panning and zooming are broken in Photoshop.

Pinch to zoom straight up doesn't work unless you enable "Zoom with Scroll Wheel" which isn't actually pinch to zoom but just reading the trackpad as a scroll wheel instead. Doing so then disables two finger pan, which itself is also largely unusable because it only goes in a single direction (not freely in the x+y direction together). The only option for panning is to hold down space bar and then drag and drop the page with the mouse instead, which turns simple panning from a 0 click action into a 2 click + release action that's incredibly laborious and slows basic work down to a halt.

It's amazing to me that basic gestures like zoom and panning that I can do on any other application, and which work just as intended on OS X, are simply unusable on Windows with a perfectly suitable trackpad. I've tried every setting, looked at every forum, and nothing works. This is simply unacceptable for any modern software, let alone one which designers rely on to function for their work.

I bought an XPS 15 recently and working with Premiere Pro I found the same frustrating issues. Do you by any chance have any news or workarounds?

Which version of Windows 10? I just installed the May version 1903.  I'm not a big fan of touch. And I find touch support seems to vary between windows version  1809 and 1903  between the devices on 1903. I try.  Because If you Append.  I did some touch testing. I normally do not use touch.

On my surface pro 3 windows 10 1903 there are two touch devices. It has a touch screen and a touch pad.  I just testes Touch Zoom and Touch Rotate with Photoshop CC 2019 20.0.5.  With the touch screen both zoom and rotate work.   With the touch pad I could touch zoom but Touch Rotate did not work.

On my windows 10 1903 Dell Workstation I have one touch device a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet with the latest Wacom driver.  With Photoshop CC 2019 20.0.5  Touch Zoom which I had disable in my wacom preferences did not work when I enabled it.   Touch Rotate worked to a point.  Two finger double tap has never worked on the Intuos tablet I need to use ESC reset rotated image.

Now my Wife Dell Work station still has Windows 1809 installed.  She uses Photoshop CC 2015.5 with her subscription and does not want any more changes.  However She get ACR updates because I keep Photoshop CC up to date on my user ID on her machine.    She also has a Wacon Intuos Pro.  And with Windows 10 1809 and I'm  sure an old Wacom driver with CC 2019 20.0.5 both Zoom and Rotate work with the exception that two finger double tap does not function with Wacom drivers.

So it look like Your problem may be with Dell device driver for its touch pad but  could be in window  if dell is using a Microsoft device driver for its touch Pad.  Microsoft Touch Pad Rotate support does not work on my Microsoft Surface pro 3.

When will Apple support touch displays on a Mac or will they port IOS to Mac computers. Does  Touch Zoom and Rotate work with apple touch strip?
