Windows Ink makes Photoshop unusable - Can't use WinTab fix.

Hey there!

I just got a brand new Wacom Cintiq 16 today and was stoked to try it, but after four hours of trying to fix this issue, I'm at my wits end.

I was experiencing that really annoying input lag cased by Windows Ink. Once every 4-5 clicks in Photoshop, it caused an input lag where all my actions wouldn't be carried out until I lifted my pen off the surface of the tablet, and then my actions would load all at once. This made drawing nearly impossible. As always, disabling Windows Ink by itself would disable my pen pressure.

I disabled Windows Ink by using the WinTab UseSystemStylus 0 fix where you write that into a .txt file and paste it into the Photoshop settings folder. But now, every time I open photoshop, the cursor of my tablet freezes on first click. It isn't Photoshop that's frozen, because I can move the cursor using my laptop touchpad, and if I move the cursor away from photoshop, I can continue to use the tablet normally. The cursor is only frozen so long as Photoshop is 'active' on my tablet screen.

I've tried running Photoshop as Adminstrator, and restarted both the program and my laptop god knows how many times. Nothing.

So what do I do now?! I can't have Windows Ink enabled cause that makes input lag so bad I can't draw, and I can't disable it with the usual fix cause that freezes the cursor on my tablet. I didn't have this weird freezing problem on my really old Wacom Bamboo tablet I was using before.

I might have figured out the issue! When uninstalling my old tablet's drivers, they weren't uninstalled properly and were still in my apps list. I uninstalled it again, properly this time, and that seems to have fixed the weird frozen cursor issue, so that I can (hopefully) now use the Windows Ink fix without problems. It seems okay so far!

I do not have a Cintiq but I do have a wacom intuos tablet.  I have all Windows Updated installed.  The latest Display Device drivers foe my display adapter and the latest  Wacom Device Driver.  I  set some Wacom  preferences for  Photoshop pen mapping not to use windows ink, to map to only display 1, force proportional. I also disable double tap distance for Photoshop.  In Windows Control Panel Pen and Touch  Press and Hold settings I disable it. I have CS3, Cs6, CC 2014, CC 2018 and CC 209 installed.  I add the PSUserConFig.txt not to use windows ING for CC  2014, CC 2018 and CC 2019 and in CC 2019 to also use legacy Transform behavior.   In Photoshop I use reasonable  brush settings. I would not say I have any problem. However it is easy to cause lag with poor Brush setting large tip spacing 1%  and zooming out so you can paint across an entire large canvas.  Search to see how other configure their Cintig models for Photoshop.  I'm sure some cintiq owners will use Photoshop.

On my surface Pro 3 I use Windows INK with my surface Pen and with my Wacon Intuos tablet. I do not install any CS version of Photoshop on my surface.
