Wrong colour selected for brush in Actions

If you figure out if it's a bad brush preset, please share the preset so we can take a look.

It's really strange. I create a new test brush with red colour selected, created a new test Action and played back fine selecting the red. I created a new version of one of my custom brushed, delete the old one, deleted the brush selection in my Action re-record it and still revert to black. I can't even isolate the problem if it's lays with the brush or the action.

This happens on all my actions. I delete and re-record the brush selection it still revert to black no matter which brush I select or which action I run.

I cannot reproduce this either. I recorded an action where I select a brush that sets the color to pink. I stop recording, set the colors back to default, run the action, and the brush and pink foreground color are selected/set.

Can you share an action where it doesn't work correctly?

If you re-record the step where the brush is selected and play it back does it work?

Yes all my customization is backed up so I reloaded my brushes and Actions no fix.

I cleared my PS preferences and restarted. The problem persists. 

What are the Playback Options? 

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far? 

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

An example of running an Action which ends with selecting a specific brush and then the black foreground and background colour.

I have been running these Actions without any issues for 5 years now the brushes aren't loading properly. 

It seems I cannot reproduce this, could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, Actions, Brushes, Brush Presets, …) visible?
