Wrong Layer Shows after using the lasso and hitting alt delete

I am wondering what I am doing wrong with my layers. I am using the lasso and then when I hit alt delete the wrong layer shows. I want my layer 2 to show but my background color (white) shows instead.

Are you working on a layer mask or a pixel layer?

What you expect to happen when you hit Alt + Delete? It should fill selected ~~color~~ area using Foreground color.

Can you post screenshot with Layers panel visible and please describe your expectatons versus actual result.

After I use the lasso tool and hit Alt Delete, I want more purple to show, but instead white shows.
