Zoom in/out WHILE pen selection tool is actively being used

Is this possible?  Being zoomed in on an image is very helpful in precisely placing the next point selection with the pen, but then I would like to zoom out to see how to adjust the anchors for curving the selection.  So as my pen selection is made, how do I zoom out?  If this isn't possible, that would be disappointing and limiting.

Before you respond, I completely understand how to adjust points and anchors after they are made, but that still isn't as precise as what I just explained would be.

Hold down the H key while left clicking with your mouse.

    It's called Birds Eye View

    Hi Jeff,

Thank you for this tip. However, I don't have a mouse.  I'm using a MacBook Pro, so I just have the key commands.  I tried a few things with the H key, but didn't get it to zoom out.

On the Trackpad, clicking with a single finger is the same as a left mouse click.

So you would hold down the H key while clicking and holding down the click on the Tackpad.
