Zoom Tool Desktop vs. Laptop and switch

Hey community.

I am using the latest Photoshop on Win 10 x64 on both laptop and PC.

When I open a raw file on my laptop I can click on the image and move the mouse/ on the touchpad to zoom in and out.

On the desktop version if I click and move the mouse around it draws a square in which it zooms in after I release the mouse button.

The laptop function in Raw Converter therefore is FAR more convinient and I would love to switch to the same kind on my desktop version. I contacted the support via chat but they told me that they offer no support for Adobe Raw Converter. Any help here?

With Camera raw open, you need to go to Preferences > Performance and check "Use graphics Processor" in order to zoom the way you describe.
