Zoom tool overlaps with hand tool in PS24

Hope someone can help me with this. I'm using Ps24 on a MacBook pro with the M2 max chip. When I press command + space to zoom-in it shows the zoom icon and the hand icon flashing basically and then goes back to the hand tool. I already tried to untick different preferences on the tools menu and reset photoshop standard tool shortcuts. I've also restarted the mac a few times. Anyone knows why is doing this? It's driving me a bit insane. I'm probably a small thing I can't find. thanks!
