Adobe Express Photo app (formerly Photoshop Express) Desktop Issue

Adobe Express Photo (Formerly Photoshop Express)Photoshop Express

I attached here two screenshots of the same Adobe product.

Hi team,
I’d like to raise an issue that seems to stem from recent product renaming/rebranding, which is currently causing confusion for users  and potentially some feature gaps.

Context / Product Naming

  • Adobe currently has:

    • Adobe Photoshop (full desktop product)

    • Adobe Express

    • Adobe Photoshop Express (lightweight version, primarily known on mobile)

  • Recently:

    • The mobile app continues to use the name Adobe Photoshop Express, with new features added (including generative AI).

    • The desktop app (Windows Store / macOS) was renamed and rebranded to Adobe Express Photos (formerly Photoshop Express for desktop).

Current Situation

  • On mobile (Photoshop Express):

    • All expected tools work as intended.

  • On desktop (Adobe Express Photos):

    • A commonly expected Photoshop-style feature is missing.

Specific Missing Feature

  • Under the Blur tool, the “Invert Selection” option is not available on desktop.

  • This feature:

    • Exists in Photoshop Express (mobile).

    • Is standard across Photoshop products.

    • Allows users to invert the blur mask (blur outside the selection instead of inside, and vice versa).

Why This Is a Problem

  • The apps are:

    • Functionally positioned as equivalents (mobile vs desktop),

    • Covered under the same subscription,

    • Yet now differ in core editing behavior.

Request / Clarification

  • Is the missing Invert Selection control in the desktop Blur tool:

    • Planned for future parity?

    • Intentionally excluded?

    • Or an oversight caused by the product transition from Photoshop Express → Adobe Express Photos?

Clarifying this — or restoring feature parity — would greatly reduce confusion for users who rely on consistent workflows across mobile and desktop.

Thanks for looking into this.

Hi @Wishbreaker, thanks for sharing such a detailed breakdown. We appreciate you calling this out.

You’re right that recent product naming changes can create expectations of feature parity across mobile and desktop experiences. At the moment, Adobe Express Photos on desktop and Photoshop Express on mobile do not have full one-to-one feature parity.

We understand how this impacts workflows, especially for users who switch between mobile and desktop or are familiar with standard Photoshop Express behavior.

We’ll share this feedback with the product team so they can review and make a decision for future updates.

Thanks again for taking the time to highlight this. Feedback like this helps us improve clarity and consistency across our tools.

Best!

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate the clarification. Just want to note that the community for these image editing platforms confuses users in the image editing platforms. I felt like the product is in the gray area since the official Discord communities are bouncing back & fort as to where this topic/theme should be communicated. Now at least the concern is being handled. Looking forward for an update.

Thanks for the follow-up and for calling this out @Wishbreaker. You're right that overlapping products and communities can cause confusion, and we appreciate you flagging it. Feel free to post any Express photos or Photoshop Express-related queries here. You can also share the community link further to spread awareness around this.

Also, I'd like to let you know that feature parity will be introduced gradually between different platforms for the product in future updates.

Hope this helps!

Best!
