Photoshop Express and .CR3 RAW files - No Go!

Why does Photoshop Express not support .CR3 RAW files?

It's the standard RAW file type on almost all current Canon mirrorless cameras. Talk about an open goal!!!! Cue corporate side-step excuse incoming!

Dumb move, really - I am introducing a group of new photographers to editing/post processing. Most use Canon EOS R cameras of some type. They know to shoot and edit in RAW - .CR3. I want to start their editing activities in a free, simple app... Photoshop Express... and then they might, as others have, progress and graduate to Lightroom and Photoshop... i.e. REVENUE GENERATING!!!! But not now with NO .CR3 support. Poor show.

Please explain this glaring omission. (Shakes head in disbelief...)
