When I open a graphic file everything is greyed out except inverse

I scanned a picture using a canon printer that includes scanning.

I saved the file both as a PDF and as Jpg.

I opened the file on a PC wirh Photoshop.

I cannot edit the file (Modify comes up with the inverse as the only option

Hi there — thanks for the detail, and I want to make sure I point you the right way, because "Photoshop" and "Photoshop Express" are two different products with different tools, and this board is for Photoshop Express specifically!

A couple of quick things so I can get you to the right help:

→ When you say you opened it "with Photoshop" on your PC - is that the full Photoshop desktop app, Photoshop Express, or the Photoshop web/mobile version?
→ When everything's greyed out except "inverse," is that a whole menu that's disabled, or the editing tools themselves? A quick screenshot of what you're seeing would help a lot here.

The "greyed out" part usually means the app isn't treating the file as an editable image yet - which can happen with certain scanned PDF/JPG files - but the exact fix depends on which app you're in, so I don't want to send you down the wrong path. Once I know that, I can either help here or point you to the right place.
