Why did Adobe Express Photo auto install itself and remove my ability to screen capture video?

Part of my job requirement is to screen capture video.  I used to use PrtSc and select video record.  Now Adobe Express Photo pops up and it won't let me record video.  Why?  I didn't install it and now I don't know how to screen capture video.  What's the point of removing something I use daily for a lesser screen capture?

Hi @LukaszWolenskiArchitekt, Adobe Express Photos installs automatically on Windows devices for eligible Acrobat users with auto-update enabled.

You can find details on this and how to Uninstall and prevent reinstallation here:

I also got pushed this unwanted software without my consent. I’m a programmer, I don’t do photo editing.
After using Adobe Acrobat Reader for PDF for what.. 25 years now -- I just uninstalled it since it obviously has become nothing else than a trojan to push unwanted software. Everything with the name Adobe is gone now.
For people reading this: StirlingPDF is free and much much more powerful.
Cheers!

Whoever thought silently introducing Adobe Express Photos to existing users was a good idea clearly underestimated the backlash this would cause. Customers are not test subjects, and their devices are not advertising space. If a feature is worth having, users will choose to install it themselves. Adobe should reverse this decision and return to a consent-first approach before more damage is done to customer trust.
This kind of behaviour is exactly how users lose confidence in software vendors. Nobody should wake up to find new functionality appearing on their device that they never asked for.

This VIRUS like behavior is completely unacceptable. Who is the person that approved this? Do you realize what this does to Adobe CREDIBILITY? This kind of approach is what made me report Norton self installer as a virus to Bitdefender. Remove this at once or face the consequences. Programs should always install as an explicit OPT-IN not self install and offer OPT-OUT!

Hi @J2kLarsonite,

Thanks for reaching out! Adobe Express Photos is an optional free app bundled with Acrobat Reader on Windows that can become the default screenshot tool. When Express Photos is installed, it may become the default tool for handling screenshots via Print Screen keyboard shortcut.

To give you control, the first time you press Print Screen after installation, a dialog box will appear, allowing you to switch back to your previous screenshot tool if desired.

To disable it, Open Express Photos → Settings, then toggle Screenshot Shortcut off. Another option is during the screenshot session, while capturing/editing screenshot → use settings in Capture bar → disable Express Photos screenshot takeover.

Regards,

Tarun

Thank you, you can also disable it by uninstalling the software that installed itself.
